Our family of schools has spent an inspiring week immersed in the Griffin Science Symposium, exploring the intersection of personal heritage and scientific discovery through the theme, “Identity: Our Story, Our Legacy”.

From EYFS to Key Stage 2, pupils engaged in age-appropriate investigations including fingerprint analysis, identity gardens, and DNA extraction. Secondary students pushed boundaries further, utilising AI and coding to solve complex mock crime scenes. These hands-on experiences were complemented by intergenerational workshops, where students met with local science heroes to compare how technology has shaped our collective history.

Griffin Science Camp

A significant highlight of the week was our inaugural Griffin Science Camp, a landmark two-day STEM event supported by The Ogden Trust.

The event kicked off with an inspiring presentation from Dr. Richard Greenwood, who is a senior research fellow for Planetary Space Sciences at The Open University. Throughout the evening, students rotated through fascinating activities, including VR space exploration, a live science show, robotics, an astronaut assault course, stargazing, and a moment of wonder in our bespoke galaxy room.

The excitement continued when our campers travelled across London to South Kensington for a visit to the Science Museum, which featured time exploring the spectacular Wonderlab.

A massive thank you to all the school staff and dedicated student ambassadors who made this fantastic event possible.

Through initiatives like the Future Inventors competition, we continue to empower our students to see themselves as the scientists of tomorrow. We look forward to seeing how these discoveries fuel their aspirations and contribute to a lasting scientific legacy.
