Graham’s half marathon!

Graham Clifford, Head of Willow Brook, is running the London Marathon on 22nd April 2018 on behalf of the Trust for our preferred charity of 2017/18 MACS.

MACS is the UK’s national charity for children born without eyes or with underdeveloped eyes. To find out more about the work MACS do please visit their website:

In preparation for the Marathon Graham took part in the Vitality Big Half marathon yesterday.

The Vitality Big Half is a new event and was held for the first time on Sunday 4 March 2018. Created by London Marathon Events Ltd, in partnership with Sported, The Vitality Big Half is a new one day festival centred around the half marathon distance, which aims to be truly global and uniquely local in a celebration of the wonderful cultural diversity of the great city of London.

The race route started by Tower Bridge. Runners then head to Canary Wharf, then came back along the Highway to cross Tower Bridge into the borough of Southwark as they head towards the finish at the Cutty Sark in Greenwich – a map of the route can be found below!

The inaugural Vitality Big Half was won by Sir Mo Farah in a thrilling sprint for the line. The four-time Olympic champion worked hard in the closing mile of the race to win in 61:40, holding off Kenya’s Daniel Wanjiru, who finished several metres behind Farah in 61:43, with Great Britain’s Callum Hawkins third in 61:45.

Graham finished in an amazing 1:52:06! This is an incredible time to finish the 13 mile race which makes it clear that Graham will have no problem finishing the marathon.
