The Symposium

Celebrating science

The annual Science Symposium, is integral to the Trust’s Wide Horizon strategy.

Holding a GST Science Symposium is a special opportunity for children and adults to interact and be stimulated by leading scientists and to gain overviews and deeper understanding of current issues and ongoing work with regard to how science is, and could in the future help our world to be a better place.

It will foster exchange and collaboration within and outside the GST and give the children real opportunities to think, debate, explore new ideas, show innovation, share and present their work, in an exciting and different arena and through interactive activities and presentations. It is a great opportunity to strengthen and further develop the Griffin family spirit and values, for children and adults alike.

It is our duty as educators and protectors of Griffin children to guide them and teach them that, often, what is going on in the world is not right. The human race is a work in progress and we need their fresh eyes to reappraise, reconnect and become active STEM catalysts for improvement in our world.

The objectives of Science Symposium are to:

  • Inspire Griffin children into the exciting world of all things science-science is FUN!
  • Spark children’s imagination, enthusiasm and unlock their creativity
  • Open up a scientific world of learning without limits
  • Ensure the children know THEY are scientists
  • Develop critical thinking skills to question and debate like a scientist
  • Understand different points of view and cultures-develop tolerance and understanding
  • Build collaboration through science projects and relationships-within the GST family and externally
  • Discover new and exciting opportunities through STEM, make connections/see relationships
  • Learn from key scientific leaders in their respective fields
  • Provide enjoyment and accessibility of science for all
  • Challenge gender and social class preconceptions related to Science

to understand more, so that we may fear less
