We are delighted to announce that Park Lane Primary has been nominated for the TES Primary School of the Year award and has been shortlisted to be one of only eight primary schools eligible to receive this prestigious award. Finding out the news that they had made the shortlist was an incredible moment according to the school’s executive head, Carrie Clare.

What stands out at the school?

There are 30 clubs run after-school, which are school funded, as are class trips, including an end of SATs residential for all Year 6 pupils. All children from Year 2 upwards learn a musical instrument, while the school also sponsors two gifted children to learn the piano.

Every Friday afternoon Park Lane Primary becomes a university, with pupils attending a ‘Freshers Afternoon’ where they select seminars for the half-term such as media, in conjunction with the BBC, public speaking and horse-riding.

Through the Griffin Schools Trust, they also take part in the Griffin Arts Festival, a Science Symposium, and a Sports Festival run by an Olympic Athlete. Pupils have also performed in Stratford upon Avon as part of the Shakespeare Festival, and took part in singing, acting and dancing projects with the Royal Opera House and Royal Ballet. Two children are selected each year to attend their local ballet school for three years on a sponsorship basis.
