The Successful Griffin Sports Festival!

The festival is compromised of two elements:

  • Inter-Competition for twelve year 6/7 students from each school, taking place at Nicholas Chamberlaine.
  • Intra-School House Competition for all year groups taking place within each school. To celebrate sport on the day throughout our schools, teams will compete for house points to add to our annual house cup competition.

On Wednesday at Nicholas Chamberlaine, we saw the 2nd annual Griffin Sports Festival. The day started with the twelve pupils from each of the Trust schools entering the field and eating a healthy breakfast made up of fruit, croissants, yogurts and juice. After each school participated in reading their festival pledges (a statement which identifies the spirit in which they will compete and the values they aim to display), the sports events commenced! The games consisted of a range of sports like Archery, Handball, Curling and more.

The Sports Festival was very lucky to have two special guests attend the event; Paralympic Champions Danielle Brown and Claire Cunnningham. Both gave grand speeches towards the end during the awards ceremony about their journeys to becoming Gold Winners, and how they overcame their doubts of not being good enough – Very Inspiring!

The results were and in third place we had Willow Brook, second place we had Lordswood and in first… Stantonbury Campus! The team got to take home the sports shield, and each team member received a medal and a certificate for taking part in the games.

We would like to thank every staff member that helped with the smooth running of the event. Sarah Collings and Rob Heath, thank you for contributing so much of your time towards the festival, I think everyone can agree it was a very special and inspirational day for the children as well as the staff involved.

The Griffin Sports Festival was such a success, and we look forward to next year with even bigger plans being put into place!
