GAF 2015

Celebrating the arts

The theme this year was ‘Identity’

Our second GAF took place from 29th June-10th July 2015 and explored the theme of ‘identity’. This powerful theme challenged everyone to consider what makes them unique and different. Each school ran a host of workshops where students created innovative masks from papier mache, created pieces of art using natural, found items, they used their hands and feet to paint with and used dance as a way of expressing themselves.

In order to celebrate the fantastic work the students created during GAF, a Showcase was held on Friday 10th at each school where families were invited to see the wonderful things that has been created. In Nicholas Chamberlaine School, the students created canapes which were served to visitors. Pop up ‘buskers’ performed on every corridor at the change of lessons and everyone began to expect the unexpected!

London Residential

During the first week, 8 students from each school took part in a three day residential where they had a sleep over at Willow Brook Primary. Throughout the three days, they visited and explored museums such as the Tate, Royal Opera House and the Globe. In the evening, they took part in creating their own movies with professional film makers.

In order for the students to be selected to take part in the residential, they had to enter a competition and showcase to us their understanding of art based around ‘Identity’.

Help make the difference

GAF is currently solely funded by the schools and GST. It is through the hard work of our staff that GAF has been such a great success.

As GAF grows, we want to sustain the quality of experiences each students receives during the two weeks. By donating to GAF you are helping our students see beyond their immediate surroundings and become exposed to the wonders of classical art.
